Pasta Flora

-1 small jar of apricot jam

- 1 lb. butter

- 1 cup of sugar

- 1 tsp. baking powder

- 1 tsp. vanilla

- 3-4 cups flour

- 1 tbs cognac

- 1 rind of orange or lemon

- 1 egg to coat the top

- Pre-heat oven for 350 degrees

- Cream butter + sugar

- Add flour 1 cup at a time (3 cups)

- Add all ingredients except the jam and flour

- Add more flour if dough is too sticky

- Place enough dough in the cookie sheet to cover the bottom

- Add more flour to remaining dough to make the strips for the top and roll out the strips for the top.

- Spread jam over dough

- Place strips on top

-Brush with egg and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees

Ingredients 1 quart of milk 1/2 cup of Carolina rice 2 egg yolks 3 heaping tbs. of sugar 1 lemon peel 1/2 pkg. vanilla pudding (NOT INSTANT) Simmer milk, rice, sugar, lemon peel until rice gets soft.
