- 1 lb. sweet butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 jiggers of water
- 1 jigger of cognac
- 5-6 cups of flour
- 1 tbs. of baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
For topping
- 1 egg beaten
- sesame seeds
- preheat oven at 350 degrees
- grease cookie sheets
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
- Add all other ingredients EXCEPT for flour and topping ingredients
- Add flour 1 cup at a time mixing
- Roll out pieces of dough on floured board into pieces of string
- Braid the strings and cut
- Brush with beaten egg and then add sesame
- Bake for 15 minutes or until cookies are golden
